JOB DESCRIPTION

This position involves executing tasks for both small scale and large scale projects including, but not limited to assisting with proposal development, routing and siting desktop analyses, cost estimates, subcontractor management, analyses of environmental data supporting the development of permit applications, management of environmental permit applications and coordination with the necessary federal, state and/or local agencies.

  • Maintain knowledge of relevant environmental regulations including Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.
  • Assist and participate in all aspects of projects, including proposal development and contracting, staff management, fieldwork, and deliverables, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget.
  • Oversee processing of post field data and overseeing development of permit applications and supporting map figures, data tables, and illustrations for technical reports.
  • Serve as lead author on technical reports, management plans, and other technical documents.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage field, office and administrative staff to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Foster and maintain good working relationships with state and federal agency staff, private sector clients, and other industry professionals.
  • Developing, cultivating, and strengthening relationships with clients.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • A Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Planning or Natural and/or Cultural Resources Management, Biology, Geology, or other science related field.
  • A minimum of three to five (3 to 5) years of relevant environmental permitting experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in environmental federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal agencies such as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, and/or other relevant federal, state, and local regulatory resource agencies.
  • Ability to manage tasks on multiple complex projects and programs, in diverse settings and with changing requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, functioning as an effective, self-motivated, and highly capable individual.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and various Environmental databases.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices and digital data collection.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS for the production of permitting maps and other documents.
  • Team-orientated attitude with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current valid Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted).
  • Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations and Company policies and procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • 85% in an office environment and 15% in a field environment.
  • Is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Must occasionally life and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
