Gulf Coast NGL Pipeline Project
The Situation
A midstream client partnered with Percheron to provide engineering support for a 24-inch NGL pipeline connecting Texas City to Mont Belvieu. The pipeline was designed to transport up to 450 thousand BPD between cavern storage and a joint venture terminal.
A major project challenge involved evaluating whether a large bay crossing was more feasible and economical than routing through a highly congested industrial corridor. Additional complexities included USACE levee crossings, complex HDD installations, and routing through environmentally and operationally sensitive areas while maintaining regulatory compliance and constructability.
The Strategy
Percheron partnered closely with the client to establish the project basis of design, evaluate routing alternatives, and develop engineering solutions for critical crossings. The team implemented a collaborative process focused on constructability, regulatory compliance, and efficient project execution.
Percheron provided detailed routing analysis and specialized engineering support for complex HDD installations and USACE levee crossings, helping reduce construction risk and support long-term operational reliability. By combining technical expertise with practical field considerations, the team streamlined decision-making and maintained project momentum.
The Success
Percheron successfully supported the advancement of a complex and strategically important NGL pipeline project along the Texas Gulf Coast. The engineering solutions addressed challenging routing and crossing conditions while supporting compliance, constructability, and operational goals.
The project demonstrates Percheron’s ability to deliver practical, innovative solutions for large-scale pipeline infrastructure and reinforces its reputation as a trusted partner for complex midstream developments.
